Rug Cleaning service in London

    Rug Cleaning

Workshop-grade rug cleaning across London, Herts & Berks. Free collection and delivery, fibre-specific hand-wash, full insurance — 7–14 day turnaround.

    What We Offer

A rug should never be cleaned in your living room. The reason is simple — the most important step in rug cleaning is mechanical dusting from both sides, and the second is controlled flat-drying under tension. Neither is possible on a domestic floor. Every in-home rug 'clean' is, at best, a top-side surface refresh.

Our rugs come to our workshop. We dust-extract from both faces (a 6x4 wool rug typically holds 1–3kg of dry soil), identify the fibre, dye-test for fastness, then hand-wash or pit-wash with a solution matched to the material. Drying happens flat, in a humidity-controlled room, never in a tumble dryer or hung over a beam — both of which distort the foundation.

We collect free of charge from across London, Hertfordshire and Berkshire and return your rug within 7–14 days. Every piece is photographed, receipted, fully insured at full replacement value, and treated like the investment it is — whether it's a £200 IKEA Bjork or a £20,000 antique Tabriz.

Rug Cleaning — Frequently Asked Questions

Because rugs are floor-laid by design but cleaned best off the floor. In our workshop we can dust-extract from both sides (removing pounds of soil a domestic vacuum can never reach), submerge the rug in a controlled pit-wash if the fibre allows, then dry under tension in a humidity-controlled room. None of that is possible in a living room — and shortcutting it is why most in-home rug cleans give disappointing results.

Step 1 — free collection from your home. Step 2 — fibre identification and dye-fastness test. Step 3 — mechanical dusting (we typically pull 1–3kg of dry soil from a 6x4 rug). Step 4 — pre-treatment of stains and traffic lanes. Step 5 — hand-wash or pit-wash depending on fibre. Step 6 — rinse, controlled drying, grooming. Step 7 — wrapping and free delivery. Total turnaround: 7–14 days.

Yes — and they all need different treatment. Wool tolerates hand-wash with cool water. Silk needs cooler water still and finer pH control. Viscose (art silk) is the most fragile of all and uses a low-moisture process to avoid watermarks. Synthetics are the most forgiving. Our team identifies the fibre on collection — we never guess.

Yes, and it's one of our most common requests. Pet urine forms uric-acid crystals in the rug foundation that ordinary cleaning won't touch — only full submersion in an enzyme bath dissolves them. We charge a flat decontamination fee on top of standard cleaning and the rug comes back genuinely odour-free, not just masked.

Synthetic and wool rugs from £6/sq ft. Persian, Oriental and Turkish hand-knotted from £6–£8/sq ft. Silk and antique from £8–£10/sq ft. Viscose from £8/sq ft (specialist process). Pet decontamination adds £30–£60. Free quote after fibre inspection on collection.

Yes — fully insured at full replacement value or agreed valuation for antiques. Every rug is photographed in condition on arrival and a written receipt is issued. You're covered, in writing, the moment it leaves your home.
