Dry compound cleaning uses an absorbent powder worked into the pile and extracted with no water, which is gentler on wool and sisal but doesn't penetrate as deeply.     Not when done correctly. We control water flow, dwell time and extraction passes so the carpet backing never gets saturated. Shrinkage almost always comes from over-wetting by inexperienced cleaners or DIY hire machines. We use truck-mount-power equipment with strong vacuum recovery, which is why our dry times are 2–4 hours rather than the 12–24 hours typical of rental machines.

    Most stains under 6 months old come out completely. Older stains depend on what caused them, whether anyone has treated them with a supermarket spotter first (this often sets them permanently), and whether the carpet fibre is solution-dyed.
